Live Picture Studios told a beautiful cinematic story with April and Rich; and they did this in one day! Our Same Day Edits are so wonderfully compelling and profound that it is almost impossible to believe that this high quality cinematography and videography was put together in one day. April and Rich were fabulous and fun to work with. On behalf of our Jersey City Live Picture Studios crew, we wish them much love, health, and happiness in their future.
We are often asked what is a Cinematic Wedding or in the wedding industry terms, Cinematography. As filmmakers, Cinematography is misused so much that it’s so hard to bring our clients back to the world of reality of what Cinematography really is. The average client would probably see about 3-5 vendors and watch over 20-40 wedding videos online before wanting to book their vendor. From our research, we find that about 90% of wedding vendors use “Cinematography” terms to pitch for higher priced package. In addition, majority of the vendors doesn’t show their longer length edit and only use their highlights to pitch their creative storytelling weddings.
Well, we at Live Picture Studios are going to get to the bottom of these misused terms, perceptions, and we hope that this blog will ease the confusion of couples looking to book their Videographer / Cinematographer.
Our New Jersey cinematography crew has the honor of meeting countless couples. What people do not always know is that we do not simply meet the couples on the day that we film. It is a bit of a “cinematic journey” that we take with them. This journey begins when we come together to discuss our high quality cinematic wedding films here at Live Picture Studios, our videography workflow process, and the final production of these weddings. During this journey we really get to know these people as couples. Kim and James were an extremely emotional couple. Their wedding vows were so profound; and it was like their love literally permeated the room. It was a wonderful experience to be in the presence of such an authentic, beautiful love; and to be a part of the creation of such a spectacular high quality cinematic wedding film.

This beautiful couple wanted their wedding story to be told in high quality cinematic fashion; and they picked the right place. Live Picture Studios worked hard to give Janette and Nilanka the profound cinematic experience that they required. Every detail of their wedding day was captured so that when they reflect back on their special union, they will feel that they are reliving the day each and every time. Live Picture Studios would like to thank Janette and Nilanka for choosing us as their vendors and allowing us the opportunity to create a fantastic, high quality cinematic wedding video.
During booking season, we typically have over 200 inquiries with over 100 scheduled appointments within 3 months. Our statistics show that 80% of the wedding couples book video LAST. Actually, most couples say they didn’t even CONSIDER videography until they realized they had just enough in their budget to add video.
At Live Picture Studios, we are doing our best to educate the wedding community in New Jersey and New York on how Valuable and Important video can be when produced correctly. There’s such a terrible perception of video! When most couples think of video, they think it’s some shaky footage, old school 1980’s or 1990’s home video. They think that someone with an iPhone would be good enough to relive those moments.
Quite often we are asked what the difference between a Short Film Edit vs. a Long Form Regular Edit. Well, in this blog, we will try to help you understand the differences between them. Can you have both edits? Yes you may have both edits if that’s what you want =)
Creative Short Film Edit (documentary style):
When you tell or watch a story whether it’s a short or feature film, what is the basic foundation you expect? If you don’t know, there’s an introduction, middle, and an ending. Well, that’s exactly what we do when you choose to have your story told. We have one thing in mind when we go through this process. That thing is giving you an “experience” to remember for the rest of your life. It’s about telling a story using what we find is compelling in your day from the Priest’s advice, best man and maid of honor toast, to how your day was formed.
Long Form Regular Edit (non documentary style):
With this edit option, we give our couples the opportunity to have a long-form edit. This style of editing is catered to couples who does not care much about the creativity or story, but just want their day covered. Of course, it’s hard for us to resist just covering, so we do try our best to create compelling shots that would be appreciated.
Every couple is different and although we live in 2013, there are many couples that just want footage covered with basic editing of their day from the time you are getting ready, to the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to the reception.
During the union of two individuals, love is the emotion most felt. It is an action, an emotion in motion, the special kind that neither stillness nor words could express. Thus, tremendous joy is experienced whenever Live Picture Studios is chosen as the videographers to capture all the motions of emotions on your special day, and assist in preserving the beautiful memories in your heart.
With that said, Live Picture Studios would like to thank Denise and Louis for having us film their wedding recently. It was an honor to be given the opportunity to be a part of their wedding, and to celebrate with them, one of the happiest day of their lives at Ariana’s Grand in New Jersey.
Denise and Louis, it was a pleasure to meet you both. Your unconditional love for one another is the reasons why we continue to love our job! Thank you for choosing us as your Wedding Videographers in New Jersey! We wish you the best and a lifetime of love.
We at Live Picture Studios would like to express our condolences to all the families affected by the devastation of hurricane Sandy. In our line of work, we are constantly surrounded by great memories and family togetherness, so to see such destruction and despair it really hits our hearts.

Recently in the news there was an unfortunate incident that took place inside a Sheraton hotel where two wedding parties clashed at the end of their receptions. A brawl between the two parties resulted in three arrests and a fatal heart attack of 57 year old man attending one of the receptions.
We at Live Picture Studios are saddened to hear about such anger and tragedy taking place during what should be one of the happiest and proudest days in a family’s life. Having filmed many weddings in the metropolitan area, we get to see the joy as two families unite on a special day of love and celebration.
Marriage is an achievement of love and devotion and nothing is worth scarring the memory of such a beautiful day, and neither is any dispute worth losing the life of a loved family member or friend.
On behalf of the Live Picture Studios staff, our hearts go out to the families who suffered from these events, and we ask all who plan on attending any family or friends weddings in the future to remember just how special, joyous and sacred that day is and to let go of all anger and negativity. Remind those who seek aggression that today is a day of love and happiness. It is always best to walk away from a heated situation than to jump into the fire.
A few years back I attended a wedding for a dear friend who had unfortunately lost both her parents 10 years prior. She was very close to her mother and father and the thought of them not being at her wedding was extremely upsetting to her, so she improvised!
The ceremony and reception were at Nanina’s In The Park in Belleville, NJ. They held the wedding outdoors in the park area with short rows of chairs for the guests attending. At the first row behind the bride where her parents would have sat were 2 candles, one on each chair representing them in spirit
Later at the reception, the candles were placed on a small table decorated with flowers near where the bride was sitting with her new husband and the flames remained lit throughout the day.
After the newlywed couple had their dance, a picture montage (before same day edits were available) that included pictures of her parents, some of her with them before their passing, as well as pictures of the wedding day patrons were interlaced as if to give the illusion that they were part of this special day.
