A few years back I attended a wedding for a dear friend who had unfortunately lost both her parents 10 years prior. She was very close to her mother and father and the thought of them not being at her wedding was extremely upsetting to her, so she improvised!
The ceremony and reception were at Nanina’s In The Park in Belleville, NJ. They held the wedding outdoors in the park area with short rows of chairs for the guests attending. At the first row behind the bride where her parents would have sat were 2 candles, one on each chair representing them in spirit
Later at the reception, the candles were placed on a small table decorated with flowers near where the bride was sitting with her new husband and the flames remained lit throughout the day.
After the newlywed couple had their dance, a picture montage (before same day edits were available) that included pictures of her parents, some of her with them before their passing, as well as pictures of the wedding day patrons were interlaced as if to give the illusion that they were part of this special day.
So you are ready to take your love to the next level and walk down the aisle, and you want your wedding day to be perfect like as if it were a scene in a movie (or as we at Live Picture Studios like to say, “cinematic”)?
All brides dream of the day they will get married and envision a fairy tale wedding ceremony. Unfortunately, many brides (and couples) focus on the least important stuff first (favors, invites, cake, etc.) putting the more important stuff (videographers, Photographers, entertainment, Etc.) last. Don’t get me wrong, all that stuff is important, however, some of these need to be a priority much earlier than others before your big day. Those who make this mistake sometimes result with weddings that have fancy stuff but are held in moderate to mediocre event halls with amateur photographers and videographers that were available “last minute”. Ironically, all that last minute stuff ends up costing about the same as a perfect wedding that was properly planned.
So to help avoid this from happening to you, we have compiled a list in order of importance to create the perfect wedding in nine months.
Last Month, Live Picture Studios had the pleasure of providing wedding videography and cinematography services for Jacy and Austin, who booked with us last March of 2012.
Their wedding and reception were at Orange Lawn and Tennis Club in South Orange, New Jersey, which is a beautiful location for weddings and other special events.
What made this wedding unique for us was that it was the first time Live Picture Studios filmed for a Korean/American wedding ceremony that mixed both traditions. The couple booked us for a 3 day shoot in which we recorded the dinner rehearsal, the wedding and reception, and a traditional Korean wedding ceremony the day after. We utilized a 3 man camera crew and followed them through their occasions, shooting with high definition Red cameras.
Jacy and Austin were easy to work with and they are proof that no two weddings are the same, giving the team at Live Picture Studios a chance to learn new and exciting things as we strive to provide the best in the wedding videography industry.
We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing about their stories from their honeymoon in Hawaii!
One of the joys of doing any cinematic videography work for a wedding is being able to capture the emotions and being able to feel like we are part of the family. As for Alexander and Vayio, their wedding was taken place at the East Hanover Manor in NJ where we had the joy on doing their “Same Day Edit”. This means, we shoot and edit the same night and show it at the reception in front of the hundreds of guest that were not able to see them get ready, get married at the church, and be apart of their day. We had a 4 man crew and at each time, we had someone capturing the funny moments, silly moments, and of course the emotional moments. When it was time to show it in front of the hundreds of guests, we looked around the room and saw people’s jaw drop to the ground and watery eyes. When we see those moments, all the hard work we put into the 12 hour day makes it all worth it. It was a joy being their videographer and cinematographer for their day.
We have been listening to our customers with regards to the packages we are offering. If you haven’t deal with Live Picture Studios, you will know that we are very flexible with the packages. We decided to also go the traditional route of videography. It seems that a lot of couples are coming back to us asking for “Raw” footages because they want to see maybe more dance footages or more behind the scenes on what went on at the house.
At that point, pretty much there is no story, but just footage of what took place. As the result, although we love to be artistic as cinematographers and videographers, we want the best for our clients. We decided to deliver traditional packages at a very affordable rate which also includes a cinematic highlight and optional feature film.
If you call us now, we will be able to give you all the details on what these new affordable videography packages. If you mentioned that you read this BLOG, we will give you an extra 10% discount as well.

We have seen companies go out of their way looking of quality videographers in their local area. Unfortunately, the decent ones are not interested in shooting a wedding. So this leaves to most videographers who may no even be up to date with the technology or refuses to invest into technology for a wedding event.
Couples should be aware of those situations and we do advise to stay away! It’s your wedding day! Why spend a fortune doing a beautiful wedding only to have it captured with such low quality content?
These are the concerns we try to make aware for any couple looking for videography or cinematography. Live Picture studios strive to have up to date technology and ensure that the visuals will be high quality and nothing less.
We’re from NJ and you won’t find any other quality company that can tell your story better.
It seems that booking season is slowing down. We can’t wait to start working with couples that have booked us from New Jersey ( NJ ) and New York ( NY ). It’s going to be a busy year for Live Picture Studios, it’s going to be a fun one.
We are still offering discount rates for Same Day Edits. If you book us before March 30th, we will, at your reception, edit the recap / highlights of your wedding day and have it played in front of your hundreds of guest to appreciate what you have gone through in the day.
We hope to hear from you soon!
Live Picture Studios was working with SoundSurge Entertainment at the Bridal show in Secaucus, NJ. It was a pretty big show and there were a lot of Brides who attended. However, there were a lot of confusion with regards Videography and Cinematography. We would say about 90% did not know the difference. However, when looking at our Cinematic Wedding Highlights, they clearly can see the difference in what it’s about. It’s just they don’t know what it entails.
So this is how we explained to our potential clients of what Cinematography or a Cinematic wedding is versus a Traditional Wedding. Cinematic wedding is about telling stories in a very cinematic filmic form. It’s a different way of shooting and we do a lot of pre-production work before going into the wedding day as oppose to Videography where it’s like a reality show. Videographers brings a camera and follows you around like a reality series. There’s not much thinking involve besides trying to stay steady. At in the edit, it’s just “cross fades” of your day. Sounds boring and that’s not what Live Picture Studios is about. We are filmmakers looking to make films for our clients. We strive to make your wedding day an unbelievable and unforgettable story that can last forever. That’s a Cinematic Wedding!
This was a film where New Jersey collaborated with New York for a beautiful modern / traditional chinese love story. Setting took place at the Castle Oheka in Long Island where we had the opportunity to work with fantastic photographers. Having great photographers to capture your day makes our job easier when building a story. The photographers are like your directors for your wedding day.
When Live Picture Studios arrived at the entrance of the Castle Oheka, we knew exactly the story we were going to create. We stayed outside for an hour capturing the beautiful scenes. They have this gate that opens up and behind the gate is this amazing road to drive through. The scenes was what made this cinematic wedding unique. When we got inside the castle, another wow of amazement. Then we met the couple who were just fun and a talkative bunch. It made the story so much worth telling!
We have to admit, it was a very long day. A modern Chinese wedding isn’t your typical american wedding apparently. We don’t remember if there was any break time. We went from scene to scene to scene capturing everything that we can think of. It was exhausting, but it was exciting as well to know that the footage we are capturing are beautiful.
People ask us how we shot the Penny and TJ wedding especially the introduction “Red Carpet” entrance. First off, this was done 2 weeks prior to their wedding. We spent about 1.5 hours shooting it, but 16 hours of planning the shoot. We treated this as any film we would produce. We started with a concept/idea and then moved on with getting permission to use the locations. After that, we storyboarded the whole introduction from beginning to end.
What do we mean by storyboard? We animate the characters and make sure we complete a blueprint of our shots and how the story was going to pace. Once that is completed, our director would have a base to be creative on the day of the shoot.
