While planning any type of wedding is a challenge, to say the least, if you’re planning a gay or lesbian wedding, it can be especially complicated because you don’t have nearly as much tradition to lean on.
Some of the most basic wedding conventions are gender related, so same-sex couples are often left to decide who should play which role, what to call their wedding party, etc., on their own.
Luckily, in our many years creating wedding videos, we’ve done the videography at many a lesbian and gay wedding in NY / NJ and we’ve heard, first-hand, the questions same-sex couples ask most.
Shannon and Stephen met in Atlantic City and, according to Stephen’s brother, it was Stephen’s “luckiest and most expensive trip to Atlantic City, ever.” The couple has spent 5 amazing years together since then and they made their union official at the scenic Mountain Lakes Club in New Jersey. Between the gorgeous lake-side ceremony and the venue’s charming interior, it all made for an unforgettable day and a truly cinematic wedding video, which the Live Picture Studios videography team was on hand to create. As the ceremony officiant put it, “Life takes on meaning as it becomes composed of many meaningful events, and certainly, this glorious day is one of them.” We couldn’t agree more. Congratulations, Shannon and Stephen!

Wedding favors are your chance to show your guests how much you appreciate them coming to support you on your big day, and while you can go the traditional route, there’s nothing wrong with getting a little more creative with them.
There are many ways to personalize your favors and to uniquely tie them in with your theme or your and your partner’s personalities, but this post is all about making them sweet.
Joanna and Jesse had been together for a long time before this amazing day, but as Joanna told her husband-to-be at the altar, “All those years we were growing up, but never really growing apart.” The lovely couple celebrated their marriage at the Venetian in New Jersey and between the venue’s magnificent banquet hall and the breathtaking farm setting the couple went to for a photo session, their day had a little of everything. You can see it in this cinematic wedding video, which the Live Picture Studios videography team was there to create. It was obvious that these two were meant for each other and we wish the amazing newlyweds a happy and fun-filled future together. Congratulations, Joanna and Jesse!

Some couples forgo the whole morning-after part of their wedding altogether, whether they’re heading out for their honeymoon right away or not, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
However, if you want the chance to properly say goodbye and thank your guests for coming, or to soothe the effects from the long night they may have had, a morning-after event is just the thing.
Tina and David started out as friends, but at the altar on this unforgettable day, David recalled the instant he knew that he and Tina would spend the rest of their lives together, when he first realized, “That I could hardly think back to a time before you, and that I dare not envision a day in the future without you.” The lovely couple made their union official at Snug Harbor in Staten Island, New York, surrounded by family and friends. The fairytale scenery, with the gorgeous grounds, fountains, and archways, made for a picturesque backdrop for the Live Picture Studios videographers, who were to capture all the special moments of the day for this cinematic wedding video. As Tina said in her personal vows to her husband-to-be, “It’s not about me. It’s not about you. It’s about you and me.” We at LPS think that’s just the right attitude and wish nothing but the best for these amazing newlyweds. Congratulations, Tina and David!

Choosing readings for your wedding ceremony isn’t as easy as it looks. After all, whether you go with something light and funny or deep and emotional, your ceremony readings have the power to set the mood.
In our time creating wedding videos in the NY / NJ videography industry, we’ve witnessed, firsthand, ceremony readings that seem to fit in perfectly with the theme or the couple’s personalities, and then others that… well… don’t.
Merlin’s big brother described the moment when he realized that Jason was the right guy for his sister, when he knew that Jason was going to take care of her for the rest of her life, saying, “When I heard those words from him, ‘I love your sister so much.’ ” The couple took the next step of their journey on this amazing day, celebrating their marriage with family and friends at the remarkable Westin in New Jersey. The Live Picture Studios videography team was happy to be there helping to chronicle the momentous occasion. As the best man put it, “You’re going to have arguments, you’re going to have stress, but here’s the thing, if you have the right person next to you, it’s all worth it.” We couldn’t agree more. Congratulations, Merlin and Jason!

It’s official. The farm/barn wedding trend isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
It seems that the allure of this kind of affair, with the jaw-dropping visuals and rustic details like hay bales and mason jars that you wouldn’t find at other venues, is now firmly entrenched in wedding culture.
However, as appealing as it is, you can’t underestimate how challenging the wedding planning process can be for a farm or barn style wedding.
Like any outdoor wedding or celebration at a rustic or unconventional venue, a farm/barn affair comes with its own unique set of challenges. You need to factor in everything from the weather and transportation to the restroom situation.
Kaitlin has always believed that everything happens for a reason, and she’s sure the reason she interned with a certain company one summer was to meet John and, after 5 amazing years together, the charming couple made their union official. They said their “I Dos” at the breathtaking Park Savoy in New Jersey, with the venue’s lovely outdoor gardens and classically elegant interior providing an unforgettable setting for this cinematic wedding video, which the Live Picture Studios videographers were there to create. At the altar, Kaitlin said to her husband-to-be, “Knowing that I get to spend every day of my life with my best friend makes me the happiest girl in the world,” and we here at LPS couldn’t be happier for both of the newlyweds. Congratulations, Kaitlin and John!
