Planning a wedding of any size and style can be a challenge at times. There are so many moving parts and it’s just such an important occasion, but with all the new tools and technologies out there today, it can be even more confusing.
Sure, many of them are there to help, but you need to know how to use them to truly get the most out of them. Luckily, our longtime NY & NJ wedding photographers know a thing or two about all that. So, read on to learn more.
Use tools you’re already comfortable with.
Like mentioned above, there are so many tools and technologies out there nowadays to help you stay on track with your wedding planning. Whether it’s a website with a bunch of great info and resources or an app, the list goes on.
So, before even trying to decide which new tool to try, explore the ones you already use, if any. Chances are that you use something for work or in your personal life that could offer something in the way of wedding planning as well. You just need to find out how.
The point is that utilizing a tool that you’re already familiar with can help to save a lot of time, not to mention the fact that there will much less of a chance for mistakes or misuse of a certain tool or technology.
Narrow your focus.
One of the best parts of the internet is all the inspiration to be found there, especially when it comes to wedding planning. There is truly no end to the amount of ideas you can discover while researching, whether it’s Pinterest, Instagram, etc.
But that’s part of the problem. Yes, an endless stream of inspiration is great for many reasons, but it can also lead to you becoming a little overwhelmed and indecisive at times, which is why you need to try to narrow your focus.
Pinpoint your specific likes and dislikes to start to create a clearer picture of what you’re after, and choose the people whom you go to for advice and opinions on those likes and dislikes carefully.
Make things ASAP.
No, we don’t mean as soon as possible, but as shareable as possible, because one of the hardest parts of the planning process for many newlyweds-to-be is coordinating schedules and finding time to work together. After all, everyone has their own lives.
That’s why utilizing sharing technologies is such a good idea, whether you use something like Google Docs or Sheets to create shared documents, or tools like Facetime or Skype to share meeting experiences and the like.
The bottom line is that there are more ways to share information, research, ideas, inspiration and experiences than ever before, so it only makes sense to use them to your advantage whenever and however you see fit during your planning.
Use what helps, disregard the rest.
If you haven’t gotten the picture yet, the truth is that all of today’s tools and technologies can hurt as much as they help if you don’t know how to use them.
You need to utilize only what helps and then ignore the rest. We just hope this post helps you tell the difference. Good luck!
