Khoa is a results-driven entrepreneur and professional filmmaker with extensive experience in films, commercials, and corporate branding. He directed and co-executive produced the full-length feature film, “Walt Before Mickey,” distributed worldwide by Voltage Pictures (domestic) and Mission Pictures (foreign). He also directed the #1 Hit Bahamian TV Show, “BTC Starmaker Season 5,” and a TV Pilot for the NY Yankees entitled, “The Tryout.”
In addition, Khoa is the CEO / Founder of Kvibe Productions, Live Picture Studios, and Climb The Search, all branches of a single full-service video production & marketing company that was recognized as the fastest growing business in the Tri-state area by the SBDC / SBA. He’s also been recognized for his high-growth strategies, bringing in over 50% of revenues each year, which compelled the USPAACC, the largest Asian Chambers of Commerce in the U.S., to ask him to join and travel internationally with other businesses to further strategize his growth.
Khoa believes in building platforms that create opportunities for others to succeed, thus moving the world forward in a positive direction. He believes that what we do today is not about us, but future generations. “I want my children and their children to have amazing opportunities when they grow up,” Khoa says. “One of the things I can do is build a platform that can deliver a positive mindset. In order to have that platform, you must build success and prove it to the world.”
Khoa started Live Picture Studios to produce cinematic wedding visuals, first via videography and then photography. When first starting out, the only platform he knew to advertise on was The Knot, which he believes was responsible for Live Picture Studios’ startup success. In 2012, he had 12 client acquisitions and was able to grow to over 90 in 2013. By 2014, Live Picture Studios was shooting over 200 weddings a year and making a buzz in the Tri-state area. Then, in 2016, believing he had the infrastructure in place to scale a new service and get into a new marketplace, Khoa decided to offer photography in addition to videography.
Although it was a brand new service, couples started booking immediately on the strength of the brand, believing that anything Live Picture Studios produced was going to be golden. The brand and reputation alone were enough to acquire the first 42 clients and by 2017, the acquisitions had doubled to over 95 clients. Now, there are over 200 photography jobs booked for 2018. In combination with video, Live Picture Studios shoots over 400 weddings a year and is still steadily growing. The total number of weddings covered from 2012 to 2018 was over 1500 and the videos produced during that time have accumulated over 3 million combined views on platforms such as Vimeo, Youtube, and Facebook.
“Technology changes everyday,” Khoa says. “New cameras, lenses, automation, support tools, etc. However, what makes us unique is our ability to tell stories and deliver an infrastructure to cater to those who want it in their lives.”
The growth of his wedding photography & videography business led Khoa to clients such as CAA, TV Asia, NJOY, Own The Room, and LinkedIn among others and he’s currently working on the Vanilla Ice documentary.
Khoa’s been featured in state & county business panel discussions for job growth in the media industry, as well as on NY / NJ radio stations and in magazines like Viet-Sun and NJBIZ for his influence in business and growth in the film industry. Some of his most recent achievements were winning a Telly Award for a food commercial campaign for Parmigiano Reggiano and being recognized as part of USPAACC”s Fast 100.
Never satisfied nor complacent, Khoa’s currently working on creating a new service, offering educational workshops to photographers, videographers, editors, marketers, and entrepreneurs.
