We talk a lot around here about the importance of getting both a wedding video and photos, and that’s not just because we happen to do both. The truth is that each provides certain elements that the other does not and for more on that, check out this post, So, Do You Really Need Wedding Videography and Photography?
But today’s post is all about the unique allure of video and as longtime NY & NJ wedding videographers, we can tell you that while you can’t hang your video up on your wall, or at least you shouldn’t, there’s also plenty that video and video alone brings to the table. Read on to learn about a few more of the subtle things that only video can capture.
Reactions as They Happen
Sure, photos can capture reactions, whether they’re your own or those of your guests, especially if you get multiple photographers. That way, one or more can capture the major moments and events while the other(s) captures some reactions. However, only video can capture those reactions as they happen.
What’s the difference? Well, while you can look back at a picture of a friend or family member’s reaction to something that happened on your wedding day, over time, it can become more difficult to remember what, exactly, that something was. Even if it’s your own reaction in the photo, as the years go by, you may lose the context of the moment captured.
With video, however, you won’t. You’ll hear the specific moment of the speech that caused the reaction or you’ll move directly from the precise moment or event that preceded it via editing. The point is that, oddly enough, only video can provide you with the full picture of a reaction rather than just a snapshot.
Unique Voices & Mannerisms
As mentioned above, speeches, and sounds in general, are some of the biggest reasons to seriously consider getting wedding videographers as well as photographers. After all, photos can give you a lot, but they can’t let you hear a great speech or relive your reciting of your vows at the altar. On top of all that, though, there are some more subtle sounds that only video can capture.
For instance, there are the distinct voices of your guests to consider, and it’s not just the sounds, either. There are also their unique mannerisms. Think about it, video and video alone allows you to capture not just the person at a certain moment, but the person in the moment, as it happens. You get to see them in all their glory.
And while we’re not trying to sound morbid by any means, we all know that our loved ones won’t live forever, no matter how badly we want them to. So, being able to listen, look back, and relive your family and friends’ genuine experiences of your wedding day via video later on down the line should not be taken lightly.
The Mood of the Memory
One of the biggest complaints among newlyweds who didn’t enlist the services of videographers for their big day is they wish they had more memories. Even many of those who had photographers and were generally pleased with their results feel that they still missed so much. Don’t believe it? However, it’s not just more memories that video gives you, but more of the memory. You don’t just get visual and you don’t just get the sound, you get the entire atmosphere of that moment. You get the true feel of it and no matter how amazing your photographers are, none can take pictures that do that.
Video truly is the best way to relive your love story.
Again, we’re not just saying that because we happen to be NY & NJ wedding videographers. We’re saying it because it’s absolutely true and to learn about some of other reasons for that, check out this post, 3 Reasons Video Is the Best Love Storytelling Tool, According to Vets of Wedding Videography in NJ.
The bottom line is that video presents certain possibilities that pictures simply don’t, some obvious like sound and others a little more subtle like those discussed above. We hope they help convince you of how powerful video can be when it comes to telling the story of your wedding day.
