We’ve been in NJ wedding photography for long enough to know that the Garden State has plenty variety to offer when it comes to backdrops for beautiful wedding photos, whether it’s the cityscapes, the parks, the Jersey Shore, etc.
But if you’re looking for stunning waterfront wedding settings, then trust us, you don’t necessarily have to head down the shore, although there are plenty of gorgeous spots down there. Check out these other waterfront options in New Jersey.
The Rock Island Lake Club & Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta
One thing about many of the North Jersey waterfront options is that they tend to provide a nice contrast to the beachside settings down the shore, and that couldn’t be more exemplified than with these two lakefront locations.
The Lake Mohawk Country Club was founded all the back in 1929 as a recreational lake community and continues to be one of the state’s top year-round lakeside communities now. The 2,500-acre surrounding Lake Mohawk reservation includes three lakes, natural woodlands, a castle-like clubhouse, and a boardwalk.
The Rock Island Lake Club, on the other hand, is brand new, but that hasn’t stopped it from quickly becoming one of our all-time favorite venues. And between the eleven-acre lake, two islands, surrounding natural wooded wildlife reserve area, and the main building’s open and covered decks with lakeside seating, it’s no surprise.

Liberty House & Maritime Parc in Liberty State Park, Jersey City
Then there’s Liberty State Park in Jersey City, which offers serene park surroundings complete with boats bobbing in the nearby harbor and also panoramic views of the New York City skyline, Hudson River, and Statue of Liberty.
And the best part is that located right inside the park are two of the state’s best wedding venues in the Liberty House Restaurant and Maritime Parc. We’ve worked at both of them on numerous occasions in our time in wedding photography in NJ and, trust us, the hardest part will be deciding between the two!
Check out the video below from the Liberty House to see what we mean.
Waterside Restaurant And Catering in North Bergen
Another gorgeous venue located right on the Hudson River, Waterside Restaurant and Catering is also easily one of the most awe-inspiring settings for waterfront weddings in Northern New Jersey.
And the second and third-floor ballrooms both offer breathtaking views of the surroundings, so even if the weather doesn’t cooperate, you’ll still get your waterfront scenery. Check out the highlight below for an example.
Mountain Lakes House in Princeton
Located in the 75-acre Billie Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve, the Mountain Lakes House isn’t exactly in North Jersey, but it’s another awesome waterfront setting that doesn’t require a trip all the way down the shore.
And no matter which way you look when at this gorgeous spot, it seems as if there’s yet another a spectacular lake view or lush landscape, not to mention the aforementioned house itself, a former private home with large rooms and an expansive covered terrace.
Again, that could come in handy if the rain starts falling on your big day, and you can check out the video below to see exactly what we mean.
Those aren’t the only waterfront options for wedding photography in NJ.
There are plenty more waterfront wedding settings in the northern part of the Garden State, but these are some of the best, and from the city-like atmospheres on the Hudson to the lakeside settings in the country, they should give you some variety to choose from. We hope this post helps!
