Planning a wedding is never simple. So much goes into every single aspect of the process, and it can get very stressful.
In fact, it can get so stressful, at times, that the bride and groom are often in somewhat of a state of shock when their big day finally arrives. Then, seemingly in an instant, it’s over.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. You put too much into planning your dream wedding for it to pass you by virtually unnoticed.
As longtime vets of the NY / NJ videography industry who’ve specialized in creating wedding videos for years now, we know how hard it can be for the newlyweds to actually sit back and enjoy their momentous occasion.
So, we put together a few tips so that no matter how your planning phase goes, once your big arrives, you’ll be able to take in every moment and truly enjoy what you’ve worked so hard to put together.
Just before the big day, take some time to relax.
There’s no way to guarantee the total absence of wedding planning stress. Sometimes, it just happens, no matter how prepared and organized you are.

You can limit it, but not eliminate it. That’s why it helps to plan for some kind of break from it all once your wedding day is drawing near, whether it’s a few weeks away or even closer.
You can get together with friends and plan for some kind of night out or a fun day activity. You can plan to do something with your parents or close relatives, or maybe just plan to take a day for you and your partner to simply have fun and relax.
The point is, you don’t want to wake up on your wedding day feeling overwhelmed with all that’s been going on. Taking some time leading up to the big day to decompress and get your mind off of it all can be a big help.
On the big day, have a helper on hand.
Whether you hire someone to help watch over all the little details on your wedding day or you get one of your friends or close relatives to do it, having a right-hand man, or woman, to take some of that weight off your shoulders can be a day-saver.
No matter how well you planned and how prepared you are, sometimes there are unexpected occurrences, such as a surprise weather situation, that shake things up.
That’s why having someone by your side to help out with the little details as well as to help deal with unexpected issues and keep everything on track can be a huge help, as well as a highly effective stress reliever.
Even if nothing unexpected happens and everything goes exactly as planned, you’ll still likely be constantly concerned with the possibility of a problem, which can hinder your ability to enjoy your big day as much as an actual one.
Allot time to take a few moments away from everything.
That doesn’t mean to leave the wedding altogether, but just to make sure you give yourself and your partner a chance to step back and look at the celebration to truly appreciate it.
This is a day to celebrate love and happiness and the promise of the future with loving family members and friends. While chatting with your guests, posing for pictures, dancing, etc., are all necessary, you still need to allow yourself to take it all in.
And don’t just promise yourself that you’ll do it. Put it into the schedule and timeline of the day to ensure it’s a concrete part of the plan and not something that you’ll get to if you can.
Trust us. We’ve been in NY / NJ videography for a long time, and far too much goes into planning a wedding to not even give yourself an opportunity to enjoy it. So make sure you do.
Capture every special moment.
You can’t be everywhere at once, but you can cover a lot more ground by bringing in the right photographers and videographers to document your big day.
It’s not just about the moments you may miss either; it’s also about cherishing the ones you experienced, the ones you want to relive again and again. You want to do everything in your power to ensure these memories last forever and never fade.
Obviously, being a NJ / NY videography company, we strongly believe in the importance of a wedding video that captures the spirit of the wedding day and every little moment that made it unforgettable.
Now, not every company can produce that kind of cinematic wedding experience, so you need to do your research to find the right fit.

Act like a guest and don’t get hung up on the little things.
Sometimes, the best way to enjoy your wedding day is to put yourself in the shoes of your guests, for a time at least, and to just let yourself enjoy the festivities like everyone else.
Get out on the dance floor and let loose. If you and your partner planned for some fun activities, participate in them rather than letting your guests have all the fun.
And lastly, you can’t allow yourself to get stressed out over the tiniest details going wrong. Remember, you can’t control everything, and sometimes, some aspects of the celebration simply don’t go as planned.
However, as long as your venue’s ceiling isn’t caving in and all the other big stuff is intact, then don’t worry too much about it.
The bottom line is, it’s your wedding day. You and your partner are the ones who will have put so much into preparing for it, and you deserve to enjoy it the most. So, take heed of this advice so that you give yourself every chance to.
